9th of November 2011 the annual Andrew Martin International Interior Design Award Ceremony took place at 798 art center of Beijing. The AM award is described by “Times” the Oscar of interior design, that’s one of the reasons behind the huge publicity for the annual award ceremony in China.
The creativity showed for this event was as impressive as the huge variety of design inspirations from designers all over the world. Except for the issuing of the awards and AM review books to the nominated designers from China, Hongkong and Taiwan, the event also included laser shows and live band music. All participating designers, media personals and VIP guests were handed a bag with glowing lights which created a cozy atmosphere in the dark ceremony lobby.
The main theme for this ceremony was the “Oriental addiction” as designers all over the world is putting in more and more oriental elements into their designs. The founder of Andrew Martin – Mr. Martin Waller awarded the Chinese designers for their ambition, inspirations and the quick developing progress. Also in his speech Mr. Martin mentioned that China is now the largest and best stage for designers all over the world as the massive building projects that are developing like nowhere else. To attach the event further with the theme, 5 designers from each year(2007-2011) who have been nominated by the AM award, especially designed Chinese patterns on cushions. The variety of inspirations on their cushions created another climax for the award ceremony.
